AI that shows its working
A Basis engineer will not act on a recommendation unless they can see where it came from. That is a healthy instinct, and it is the standard the AI in FCC is built to.
The bar in SAP operations is higher, and it should be
There is a lot of AI in enterprise software marketing. In production SAP operations, a confident answer that cannot be traced to a measurement is worse than no answer, because someone may act on it.
So the useful question is not whether a platform uses AI. It is what the AI reads, what it is allowed to say, and what happens when it is unavailable.
Questions to ask about AI in an operations tool
- What does it read?Real measurements from your systems, or general knowledge dressed up as analysis?
- Can it invent numbers?A metric no agent reported should be shown as missing, never estimated.
- What if it is unavailable? The platform should still work, and still tell you what is wrong.
- Who approves actions?Anything that touches production should still go through a person.
How FCC uses AI
Checks first
Thresholds, anomalies, trends, failed jobs and backup age are computed deterministically and are visible.
AI prioritises
The AI layer reads those computed checks and turns them into a prioritised, plain-language assessment. It is instructed not to invent metric values.
Honest empty states
A system that has not reported shows as having no data, never a made-up number.
A person decides
If the AI is unavailable, the deterministic report stands on its own, and production changes stay with people.
The goal is not to replace SAP expertise. It is to give experts the first ten minutes of an investigation back.
